1. Who we are and what this covers
Lokly is operated by Kennon Dlima. This policy covers the Lokly app and our public website. Lokly helps people discover and contact nearby businesses, create free local listings, and participate in community conversations.
For privacy questions or requests, email kennondlima@gmail.com. We are responsible for the personal information we handle in providing Lokly. Businesses and other members are separately responsible for information you choose to share with them outside Lokly.
2. Information we collect
Account information: your sign-in email or phone number, your user identifier, authentication and session information, and the name you provide. The available sign-in method is shown in the app.
Profile information: any profile photo, profession, biography, contact number, and visibility or communication preferences you choose to provide. Optional fields can be left blank.
Community content: posts, comments, poll questions and votes, group participation, event information and responses, local listings, descriptions, prices, area information, and photos that you submit. A photo can contain personal information even when its location metadata has been removed.
Conversations: the text of messages, sender and recipient identifiers, and timestamps needed to deliver and display personal and business conversations. Lokly does not provide end-to-end encryption for these conversations.
Business information: business names, categories, descriptions, addresses or service areas, opening hours, business contact details, images, and owner or manager permissions. A business address or contact number may identify an individual, particularly a home-based business.
Support and safety information: reports, messages you send us, moderation records, and information needed to investigate abuse or handle privacy and parent/guardian requests. Please do not send passwords, sign-in codes, payment details, or identity documents by email.
Technical information: information needed to operate and secure the service, such as IP addresses, request and authentication logs, device or app information, and session tokens. If device notifications are enabled, we also process a device identifier and notification token. We do not request access to your contacts or your device’s precise GPS location for the features described here.
3. How we use information
We use information to create and secure accounts; display profiles, listings and community content; support discovery and search; deliver messages; manage business access; and save your preferences.
We also use it to respond to support and privacy requests, prevent spam and fraud, investigate reports, enforce our community rules, troubleshoot failures, and meet applicable legal obligations.
Directory questions you submit to the in-app assistant are processed to answer your request using available directory information. The service is a directory lookup, not a medical or emergency service. Its session history is temporary, and we do not store questions as a server-side conversation history.
We process information as needed to provide the service you request, with your consent where required, and for safety or legal purposes where permitted. We do not use private messages for targeted advertising or sell them to advertisers.
4. Who can see what you share
Buzz is a public forum within Lokly: signed-in members can see its posts and comments. Other public community areas and published listings are also visible to eligible signed-in members. “Public” does not mean that a post is confidential or limited to people you personally know.
Private-group content is limited by group membership and the service’s access rules. Reports and safety investigations may be reviewed by authorized people handling moderation. Do not use a group or forum to publish somebody else’s private information without permission.
“Show my profile in search” controls discovery through profile search and People. Turning it off does not erase your name or content from posts, comments, groups, listings, or existing conversations.
“Allow others to message me” controls new incoming person-to-person chats. Turning it off does not close existing conversations or prevent replies to chats you start, including conversations with businesses. Explicit blocking is a separate control.
Your private account email is not displayed as a personal-profile contact. A phone number is shared with other members only through the applicable sharing control. Details you deliberately publish in a business page, listing description, or message can be seen by its audience.
Anyone who can view content may copy it or take a screenshot. Removing content cannot recall copies saved independently by another person.
6. Photos, permissions and notifications
We upload the photos you choose to submit, rather than uploading your entire photo library. Uploaded photos are processed for size and format, and embedded location metadata is removed during processing. Visible information within the picture is not automatically removed.
You can decline optional photo or notification permissions and continue using features that do not need them. Change permissions in your device settings. Removing device permission does not itself delete a photo already submitted; remove that content or contact us.
If your app version offers QR-code scanning and you choose to use it, camera permission is used for that scan. The features described here do not require microphone access.
If you enable device notifications, we use the notification token and relevant preferences to deliver them. Notification availability may depend on the app version and configuration.
7. How long we keep information
Personal and business direct messages expire seven days after their recorded creation time. They are hidden when they expire and removed through scheduled cleanup. This seven-day rule does not apply to Buzz posts, comments, group history, listing photos, or every other type of information.
Profile and account information is generally retained while your account is active. Community content remains until removed by you, through account deletion, moderation, or the feature’s retention rules. Listings may stop appearing after their display period without all associated records immediately being erased.
Security, moderation, deletion-job and audit records may be kept for limited operational or legal purposes. Where possible, we remove personal content and keep only the minimum record needed. We do not retain every category for a single fixed period.
Deletion from live systems does not instantly remove copies in provider backups. Backup copies age out through provider retention cycles. Cleanup can also take time when a provider or network is unavailable. We do not restore deleted information to normal use merely because a backup exists.
8. Your choices and requests
You can edit your profile, remove your profile photo, change search and messaging preferences, block members, and use available content-deletion controls. You can also change permissions in your device settings.
To delete your account, open Me → Settings → Delete account and follow the confirmation steps. Deletion removes your account and associated personal data from live systems, subject to necessary legal or security exceptions. Depending on your role, it can also remove businesses, groups, listings, or conversations described in the app’s deletion preview.
For help, or if you cannot access the app, email kennondlima@gmail.com with the subject “Privacy request”. Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, withdrawal of consent, or a response to a privacy grievance. We may need proportionate verification before acting. Signing out or uninstalling the app does not delete your account.
Withdrawing permission for an optional use affects that use going forward. Some information is necessary to provide an account or a requested feature; if you no longer want that processing, you can stop using the feature or request deletion.
9. Younger members and parental consent
Members under 18 may use Lokly only with a parent or legal guardian’s permission and any verifiable parental consent required by applicable law. A parent or guardian must contact us before a younger member creates an account so that the appropriate consent arrangements can be confirmed. Permission to install an app does not, by itself, complete that process.
Parents and guardians can email kennondlima@gmail.com with the subject “Parent or guardian enquiry” to discuss consent, supervision, access or deletion. Please do not send identity documents or sensitive information about a child in the initial email. An enquiry is not itself completed consent.
If you believe a younger member’s information has been collected without the required consent, contact us. We will investigate and restrict or remove the account and information as appropriate. We do not knowingly use children’s personal information for behavioral advertising.
10. Security and international processing
We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including encrypted connections, authenticated access, access controls, and limited operational permissions. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Keep your sign-in codes private and report suspected account misuse promptly.
Information may be processed in India and other countries where our service providers operate. Applicable data-transfer safeguards and provider arrangements apply where required. Public content and information you share with another member can also be accessed wherever that person is located.
11. This website and cookies
These public pages do not contain advertising trackers, an analytics script, a registration form, or a marketing mailing list. Fonts and branding assets are served with the website.
Cloudflare processes network and request information to deliver and protect the pages and may use necessary security technologies, including security cookies when applicable. Your browser and Cloudflare may cache public page assets. App sign-in sessions are separate from these informational pages.
12. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as Lokly or applicable requirements change. The latest version and effective date appear on this page. We will provide additional notice or request fresh consent for material changes where required.
Privacy contact and grievance enquiries: Kennon Dlima, kennondlima@gmail.com. Tell us the nature of your request and how to reach you. You may also contact the relevant authority where applicable law provides that right.
